DescriptionIt is understood that SEASPRAY's builder was from the Harry Woods Boatyard of Woods Point on the Mersey River at Devonport. It could be possible that Harry's son William Holyman-Woods was the builder as SEASPRAY was built after Harry's death. The vessel is carvel planked in Huon pine with a plumb stem and stern profile.

Launched as PANDORA the craft operated on the Mersey River until it was sold to a bank manager in Hobart. It was later sold to Mervyn Dalwood from Lindisfarne in Hobart who renamed it SEASPRAY. Unfortunately he fell overboard and drowned. His family then sold the boat in 1958 to Robert Knight. Knight's daughter, her son and two friends later became owners of SEASPRAY before it was sold to the current owner.

In 2009 it remained in good condition and the hull and superstructure are believed to be largely original.
SignificanceSEASPRAY is a wooden motor launch built in the mid 1920s in Tasmania. It was built in 1926 as a ferry for the Devonport Harbour Trust for use along the Mersey River in Tasmania. It was originally called PANDORA. Now used as a private motor sailer it retains much of its original structure and appearance.
