Sargent and Burton
The business came out of the A&H Green yard at Abbotsford when that closed down in the 1950s after many decades. It reopened Green Racing Boats briefly, before becoming Sargeant and Burton, and was run by ex-employees of Green's yard.
They built wooden craft to a very high standard, maintaining the craftsmanship established by Greens. Schools, clubs and individuals throughput Australia bought thier shells and sculls, and they won numerous events including Kings Cup, the GPS 'Head of the River' and other similar events. They only ever built wooden hulls, keeping up with developments in that area, but the business closed as composite fibreglass craft began to dominate the market.
