Date1920s
DimensionsVessel Dimensions: 3.05 m x 1.36 m (10 ft x 4.45 ft)
DescriptionREDWING's construction features a clinker hull with cross thwarts for seating, and was built by the Albert family's long term employee Alex Gorham. The shape and construction are generally typical for a dinghy of the 1920s period, but it has the slightly unusual feature of a shallow draft, full length keel, instead of a centre-board to help it sail to windward.

The dinghy belonged to Alexis Albert and would have been a tender for the many vessels the Albert family owned, as well as being a sail training vessel for the youngest Alberts.

REDWING was donated to the Sydney Heritage Fleet by Sir Alexis Albert in the late 1980s, and was restored by Fleet volunteers in 2005.
SignificanceREDWING is wooden dinghy or tender built in Sydney NSW in the 1920s. It is a typical clinker dinghy of the period and is associated with the Albert family and their many yachts and launches which were well-known on Sydney Harbour for a number of decades.
