DescriptionIt was used at Como Boatshed on the Georges River in NSW, and was Fleet No 17.
THE WAY WE WERE is a typical lapstrake construction hull, robust and sturdy enough for a small number of passengers. It would have been hired out on the enclosed waterways of the area around the Como and Oyster Bay on the Georges River, in the southern Sydney suburbs.
The rowlocks appear to be of an early 1900s type, which suggest that it is possibly about 100 years old.
The craft remains in very good condition and is used as a private rowing craft.
SignificanceTHE WAY WE WERE is a small craft that was built in NSW. It is a good example of a typical wooden construction, hire -fleet rowing boat used by many people as their only boating experience.
