The Australian 12' Cadet Dinghy class is a training dinghy, so FAYRE has a moderate sized rig, which includes a spinnaker. Young sailers can learn how to trim, handle and manoeuvre a sailing craft in a safe and robust dinghy before moving to a higher performance skiff.
The Stonehaven Cup which is the National Championship for the class has been raced for by Cadets since 1927, and FAYRE has taken part in a number of the regattas.
SignificanceFAYRE is a clinker sailing dinghy built in Victoria. It is significant as an excellent example of the Australian 12' Cadet Dinghy class, which was established in the early 1920s.
