DescriptionJASMIN was yard number 1178 at Lars Halvorsen's Ryde facility in Sydney, New South Wales and launched as MARJON II for WT Coggins in 1962. It was sold in 1966 and there were few subsequent owners. One was P Lawson, a member of the Lawson family which commissioned SYLPH (POLLYANNA HV000270) in the 1940s. Lawson owned the vessel from 1994 to 1996 and gave it the traditional family boat name, SYLPH. The current owner bought the vessel in 1996 and renamed it JASMIN.

The 10.2 metre (34 feet) motor cruiser shows how Halvorsen styling moved with the times. It retains a raised deck forward, and the classic white hull/varnished superstructure combination. However the raked stem and flared bow, with a relatively shallow change of height to the raised deck, reflect an influence from the higher speed, sports-fishing hulls which gained popularity in the USA and Australia from the early 1960s. Later designs by Halvorsen moved back to a straighter stem and less flare at the bow.

JASMIN had a flying bridge added over the saloon in the 1980s which blends in extremely well with the original lines. The current twin Volvo engine installation was done by a previous owner, Max Bowen ( 1974 -1994).

In 2009 it remained in good condition and in use as a recreational cruiser on Cowan Creek and the Hawkesbury River, just north of Sydney.
SignificanceJASMIN is a Halvorsen cruiser from 1962 designed by Harvey Halvorsen, from the third generation of the famous Sydney-based family of boatbuilders. The raked stem and flared bow demonstrate the design changes adopted by Halvorsen in their 1960s vessels to keep their craft in line with contemporary period styling.
