DescriptionBuilt as yard number 1200 at their Ryde, New South Wales yard, TRINA went straight into operation as one of the small-sized cruisers that comprised a significant proportion of the Halvorsen's hire fleet. Based at Bobbin Head on Cowan Creek, north of Sydney, New South Wales, the hire fleet was extremely popular and these robust small craft provided an affordable opportunity for many families to enjoy recreational boating without owning a craft of their own.

Other standard cruisers of a similar length were sold to private owners, and overall, there were nearly 90 of these craft built from the late 1940s until the mid 1960s. The hire fleet also included 36 foot (11 metre) cruisers.

In 2003 the remaining craft from the hire fleet were sold off when insurance premiums and new operating requirements made them uneconomic to retain without modification. Like many of the hire fleet, TRINA went into private ownership and has remained in use as a recreational cruiser. In 2010 the vessel's structure remained sound and the finish and fitout were being restored by the joint owners in a methodical process which has retained the traditional finish and appearance in combination with modern materials and technology. This includes a new diesel to replace the original Chrysler Ace engine which has reached its retirement age.
SignificanceTRINA is a 26 foot Standard Cruiser (7.92 metre) built in 1964 by the prolific Halvorsen firm for their hire fleet. It is an excellent example of its type, the smaller 26 footers that were very poplualr to hire out by the public.
